Huodiya Gr
Type Locality and Naming
Northeast Sichuan-Southwest Shaanxi. The Huodiya Gr was named by Hou Defeng (Hou, T. F.) and Wang Xianyan in 1939. The named section is situated in Mawozi Village, Nanjiang County, Sichuan Province.
Synonym: (火地垭群)
Lithology and Thickness
The Huodiya Gr is composed of metamorphosed clastic rock and carbonate rock in the Lower part (Mawozi Fm), which bears stromatolites. Upper part (Shangliang Fm) consists of metamorphosed volcanic rock, metamorphosed clastic rock, and marble. [For details, please see the descriptions for formations.] The Huodiya Gr is 5000 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The formation contacts unconformably with the underlying Houhe Gr.
Upper contact
The top is unconformably overlain by the Tiechuanshan Fm (late Neoproterozoic)
Regional extent
Northeast Sichuan-Southwest Shaanxi. The group is mainly distributed in Wangcang and Nanjiang counties, Sichuan Province. The Mawozi Fm is exposed also in Nanzheng and other places, Shaanxi Province.
